Hell-owww, young Padawan 👻
For those who may not know, our Anglo-Saxon friends celebrated Halloween yesterday. During this “spooky” time of year, there’s no reason to look like a ghost or a worn-out pumpkin. Yes, had to make a little joke!
Maintaining optimal moisture is key for achieving radiant skin in autumn and winter. With a few simple tricks, your friends will think you’ve just returned from a vacation, and your colleagues will suspect you’re indulging in weekend spa retreats.
Here are some ideas to help everyone believe you’ve been lounging on a hammock in southern Greece, whether you want to adopt this ritual at home or plan a getaway to Mykonos.
The basics of facial moisture, with a tip for combination skin
Fall comes, and the skin starts to feel tight. Dry and normal skin agree, but combination skin is even more bothered by this since as soon as it moisturizes, it shines. No worries; here are some ideas to solve these different problems.
For all skin types, regardless of type, age, sex or hobbies, or even both combined, hyaluronic acid is the basis of any skincare ritual. I talk about it yearly, but my mainstay is the ELMW serum from Green Keratin, a reliable and trusted product that has consistently brought me joy and no wrinkles for many years. The black sachet is the refill, which I fill in the old packaging after cleaning my empty bottle. This serum literally irons your face, lol; I have no other words. A must-have, for me.
Since it is to be used on damp skin (see here or there for more details, ed), as for all serums containing hyaluronic acid, I first use the essential lotion by On The Wild Side, which is a purifying and soothing wonder, which prevents the appearance of imperfections (blackheads, pimples, cysts), tightens pores, regulates sebum, soothes redness and erases traces of acne. It is, therefore, perfect for acne-prone skin but also sensitive skin, like mine — or for times in the cycle when the skin tends to do a bit of craziness.
All skin types, whether combination, dry, or sensitive, need balance. Leahlani’s balancing serum, with its sweet, refreshing, and invigorating botanical scent, is a versatile solution that brings suppleness and radiance and helps the skin normalize, whatever its problem. Thanks to its healing complex, it reduces inflammation and redness, but it also reduces scars and finally protects against free radicals.
A cream that provides protection, moisture, softness, and comfort without clogging pores or greasing your skin like lard? I found it, it’s the banana soufflé from Glow Recipe. It is perfect for normal, combination, acne-prone or sensitive skin. Dry skin will like to add a drop of oil (rosehip, for example, the one from Pai is great, ed) to provide the necessary oil and fix the entire moisture ritual.
Basic eye moisture, with a tip for dull eyes
For fall-tired eyes stressed by cold weather, lack of luminosity, and needing moisture, I found the all-in-one that I haven’t let go of since I got my hands on it: Garancia’s Phantom Tears — we are on the spooky theme of the day, lol. This stuff is crazy because it’s also a concealer, an anti-puffiness, an anti-wrinkle, and an anti-sagging. In short, it’s almost like it makes your morning coffee! All those who have tried it on my advice are delighted!
A little vitamin C before applying the eye cream is a good idea for stubborn eye contours, namely dull or rough dark circles. The one from Kiehl’s is a marvel, and it also contains hyaluronic acid, so we’ll never say no.
The little extras
Lips tend to get dry when the temperature drops. Don’t panic; a good scrub, like the one from Lush pictured here, will do the trick, and a good lip balm, and that’s it. For those who want a magic balm that enhances just the right amount, hydrates for hours, and has an anti-wrinkle, plumping, and repairing formula, there’s the one from Mrs Beckham. I have the Cassis color, and I admit it’s amazing.
Finally, for those who, like me, like to cheat a little, there’s this little product from Dr Hauschka. A pump in your day cream, you mix in the palm of your hand, you spread, and you’ll look like you’re back from vacation. It is ideal for ghost complexions like mine, who want to give the illusion of an immediate healthy glow tan illusion. This tinted emulsion is also a treatment, like all Dr Hauschka products. Thanks in particular to the infusion of witch hazel and anthyllis that it contains, it will reduce irregular pigmentation, soften and normalize the skin.
Here is this year’s moisture basic ritual. It features great discoveries, but more importantly, it serves as a reminder to take care of ourselves, especially during this season when we often push ourselves too hard. Our bodies need more rest, more sleep, and more calm.
Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you next Friday for more adventures.
