Today, we will make a little infused water that is out of the ordinary.

Lemon balm, do you know?

 

Your ancestors all had it in their gardens, and your grandmother made it as an herbal tea—especially for your grandpa after heavy, long Sunday lunches—but we, the so-called modern generations, have forgotten certain treasures of nature, including lemon balm, which is undoubtedly one of its jewels.

 

So, let’s embark on a journey to create an infused water that’s a delightful departure from the norm, promising a refreshing and playful twist.

Lemon balm, a real health benefit.

It looks like mint from a distance, but up close, its lemony smell removes all your doubts. Here are some of the many benefits of lemon balm.

 

Excellent for digestion, but also the digestive sphere in a broader sense, such as bloating or gas, lemon balm takes care of your liver and stress thanks to its soothing properties, and even your hormonal health*.

 

Refreshing, playful, and slightly acidic, it delights you, and your body benefits from its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antiparasitic properties.

 

Finally, it soothes irritated throats, induces sleep, and regulates blood sugar levels.

 

*Note: As a classic infusion, that is to say, as a hot-infused herbal tea, it is, however, not recommended for people suffering from severe hypothyroidism and/or under thyroid treatment.

 

 

 

 

Lemon balm hibiscus infused water

For 17 fl oz of infusion.

 

2 stems of lemon balm, or around ten leaves

A handful of blueberries (wild ones, preferably those that are red inside)

17 fl oz of filtered water (or lightly mineralized water).

2 teaspoons of hibiscus flowers

 

 

 

 

Recipe

Pour the hibiscus flowers into an infusing carafe or a simple carafe. Add the blueberries, pierced with a sharp knife (or cut in half), and the lemon balm leaves previously crushed by hand (or cut into strips).

 

Pour in the water, cover it, and leave it to infuse for at least two hours, preferably overnight.

 

 

 

 

Presentation

Using a fine tea strainer, a coffee filter, or a fine strainer, pour your infused water into your prettiest glasses or water bottle for the office. Add a few ice cubes for an “aperitif” effect.

 

Keep refrigerated for 24 hours.
