뜻이 있는 곳에 길이 있다
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Hello, young Padawan
Today, we will review the cosmetic brand* that’s on the rise. Yepoda, 예쁘다, which means “pretty”, is a Korean skincare brand created in 2020 by Veronika and Sander Joonyoung. However, as everyone who is passionate about skincare knows, Koreans are the best by far.
So, when I first saw this new – umpteenth – brand going viral on social media everywhere, I was skeptical despite the great reviews. Then, when I saw that they were releasing an advent calendar at the end of last year, it was the best way to test the brand properly and give you feedback on my favorite products. A new box to open each day containing a different product, some sales formats, and others in travel size, which allows me not to waste if there are two or three that do not suit me. I’ll have an overview of the brand, and since I have not chosen the products, I can have very nice surprises.
So, I tested the brand for some products for a few weeks and several months, and today, we arrived at the results.
Overall, I was really won over by this “pretty” brand (do you get it? haha!). The products I did not like did not suit me because they were not adapted to my skin or my skin type since the advent calendar must suit the greatest number, which is quite normal—knowing that a serum, oil, or cream that does not suit us on the face can be recycled on the body, or given to friends who have the skin type required for said product, no waste.
Then, I liked a very simple thing, it’s the little explanatory drawings that are present on all their products. A series of pictograms explaining what the product does (example: anti-aging, nourishing, plumping), and a series of pictograms to explain when and how to apply them (example: morning and evening, step 5 – or evening, step 2 …). Thus, a person who does not master Korean layering, namely in which order to apply the products, or if we can apply them morning and evening, or only in the morning for example, everything is indicated directly on the product, no one is lost.
Finally, they offer a lot of refills, which is both economical and ecological.
Skincare by Yepoda
The first treatment that really stood out was the repair hero serum. Rich in probiotics and niacinamides, in a few days, I noticed a plumping effect, better moisture, and a beautiful anti-aging effect in the long term, with a reduction in fine lines after a month. As soon as I finished it, I bought a new one.
The day and night creams, Midnight Magic and Make my Day are really nice. On my sensitive skin, which tends to be dehydrated, these two creams fix the serums well and preserve the skin’s moisture. The day one is hydrating and restorative, enriched with hydrating jojoba, soothing centella, but also ceramides to protect the skin from external aggressions, and the night one contains lavender and centella asiatica to soothe the skin, and is richer than the day cream, which allows you to wake up with plumped, bouncy and comfortable skin.
A night oil that I have to tell you about, The Glow Hero, which doesn’t suit my skin because, unfortunately, it doesn’t tolerate oils well, but I gave the test to three different human beings, two girls in their forties and a boy whose age is that of a good cognac plus VAT, for about a month each, and all these people were won over. They noticed a real anti-aging effect, better skin elasticity, more bounce, and more radiance, and the gentleman noticed a refined skin texture, which is logical since the oil contains bakuchiol.
Other skincare products
I had a little lavender shampoo and conditioner duo in my advent calendar. They lasted me quite a long time, more than two months, and I enjoyed using them. Already for the sensoriality, because we are on a beautiful, elegant lavender, the shampoo has a light and effective foam without being detergent and leaves your hair clean, but respected, the conditioner is sufficient for detangling and providing a little hydration, on the other hand, textured, colored or damaged hair will not find it nourishing enough. I did not find them on the website, but since this duo was in the calendar they will release them this year, it seems logical to me.
The hand cream received in my calendar, also with lavender, is an absolute favorite. The lavender fragrance is very relaxing, the texture is perfect for the day, that is to say effective, but not too greasy, you can feel your hands repaired over time, in short, it has taken up residence on my desk, and since I bought the refill, I have it for a long time. I’m waiting for the promotions to buy a second container to put in my car, that’s saying something!
As for tinted care, I tried the cushion foundation (outside the advent calendar), a great classic of Korean beauty. It’s a foundation in a compact case, on a sponge, and you just press on it with the provided puff or a brush. It’s nice, but a little too covering for me. So I use it with a brush, put on very little and I can easily stretch it and get the desired healthy-looking veil in transparency, without feeling heavy. It is SPF30, yes, but I should point out that for tinted products, you would have to put on so much of it for it to be effective that you would look like a clown. So a little extra, ok, but don’t tell yourself that it’s enough.
The mutli-balm is both a tinted lip balm and a blush. I had it in my advent calendar in the shade jingle berry. It is great as a blush, however, you really have to put very little on the lips, because the material tends to settle in the micro-fine lines and you end up with vertical lines on the mouth.
This concludes my overview of this small, up-and-coming quality brand I highly recommend! I personally look forward to trying the vitamin C serum and some of their other products.
If you enjoyed this article, I will return to share my new experiences with you in a few months. I wish you a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you next Friday for more exciting adventures!
